Enjoy an eye-popping gander at the fantastic North American roadside motels of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. I am an accumulator of motel postcards, and I've made it my life's work to share them with you here.

Dearborn Motel - Inkster, MI
The giant yellow metal claw just might catch your eye after a long drive.
I grew up in this motel. My mother was the clerk, and I'd stay in the reception area behind the sign until it was time to go to school across the street. It was a big, U-shaped layout with single-story bungalows on the left and three levels on the side just out of the frame. You can't quite see it here, but next to the office entrance there was a little fountain with water gushing out from a pot held by an alabaster cherub.
It's an eye-catcher alright. Very Modern, I think.
