Eden Roc Motel - Anaheim, CA

Let's turn our attention back to the Disneyland-area motels of Anaheim, the city with the all-time worst/best motels per capita of any city on the planet.

Lannon Stone Motel - Janesville, WI

Easily one of the creepiest motel postcards of all time. The owners - the Andreskis - are WATCHING you. Won't you come stay with them? Please? Sent in December 1952.

Vagabond Motel - St. Petersburg, FL

What an absolute gem of a card. One of my current 20 best. Has shuffleboard and is "close to churches".

Sooner Motel - Muskogee, OK

The middle photo with the branded pink bedspreads is my pick 'o the card. And look what's next door - Monday's "Congress Motel", except this one's in Muskogee, OK instead of Santee, SC....!

Travel Haven - Hanford, CA

My card was sent in February 1966, back when stamps were five cents and motel signs looked as awesome as this one.

Del-Rey Motel - Indianapolis, IN

This is an exceptionally well-known card, thanks to being published in Klutz Press' book of retro motel postcards. I got hoodwinked when I bought it recently at a postcard show....thought I'd found an original, and for only $3 at that, and looked at the bottom when I returned home and it said, "Klutz Press". It still totally rules.

Congress Inn - Santee, SC

Fried chicken restaurant right next door, in South Carolina no less.....as well as a "Space Age Playground", which is unfortunately not pictured.

Boissevain Inn - Boissevain, Manitoba

Our first Canadian entry ever, and it's a whopper. The "Open Keg" beverage room AND a cocktail lounge, plus the back of the postcard says the motel is the "Home of Canadian Turtle Derby".

Muskateer Motel - Anaheim, CA

Yet another gem from Anaheim, home then as now to the nation's most amazing collection of lodging.

Mohawk Manor - Buffalo, NY

The splendor of this place is hard to equal. The parking's even free.

Royal Inn - El Monte, CA

I love this place and feel like maybe I'd stayed there. But why would I have been in El Monte, right?

Waikiki Motel - Anaheim, CA

Anaheim had all the best motels. This was mere blocks away from yesterday's entry, the Cosmic Age Lodge, on Katella Ave.

Stovall's Inn of Tomorrow - Anaheim, CA

This one's a bit of a mystery. Compare this Anaheim hotel - and its background (even the car in the left foreground) - to that of The Cosmic Age that I posted earlier today. Identical, right? And yet this one's supposedly located at 1110 W. Katella, and the Cosmic Age was at 1717 S. Harbor Blvd. What gives?

Cosmic Age Lodge - Anaheim, CA

My most-wanted postcard, ever. Found this at the Vintage Paper Show in San Francisco this past weekend. Stayed here in the early 1980s on a teenage trip to Disneyland.
