Located in the no-man's land of Northern Nevada, "Halfway between Twin Falls, ID and Wells, NV". It has a casino and a bar, and looks like a helluva place to park your Packard.

Pyramid Motel - Phoenix, AZ

Postcard was sent April 23rd, 1967 to Hank and Zona Sandus in Naches, WA. The author, whose name is unintelligible, stayed here after watching the minor league Phoenix Giants play baseball that day. 

Voll Motel - Ukiah, CA

Owned by Jerry & Hazel Estell. This is only 2 hours from my house; I'm gonna call 'em and see if I can still stay here.

Satellite Motel - Springfield, MO

Love the space-age satellite/sputnik-envy ball perched on top of the sign...!

Bel Air Motel - Redding, CA

Thunderbird Motor Lodge - Lake City, FL

There must have been two dozen Thunderbird Motels in the 1960s. This one differentiates itself with "50 Luxurious Units" and "Finest Restaurant".

Tropics Motor Hotel - Seattle, WA

Another fantastic interior postcard, this time from a space-age motel in Seattle, two blocks from the Space Needle on Aurora. This would have placed it right over by the still-active Elephant Car Wash!

Lincoln Motel - Liberty, NY

While we're generally all about the exterior shot here at The Postcard Motel, we'll certainly accept a classy interior snap where we can find 'em. On my postcard, which was never sent, the owner crossed out the old phone number and re-wrote the new one, and also crossed out the words "...and swimming pool" in the motel description. Sad.

Diplomat Motor Hotel - Washington, DC

Note the "International Room" lounge on the upper right-hand picture. Sent back home to parents in Benton Harbor, MI on 4/23/65.

Aurora Motel - Clinton, BC

Whoa - depressing. This British Columbia motel is thankfully in "a sportsman's paradise", in which you can "meet the fighting Kamloops Trout". 

Langdon's Motel - Rochester, MN

Proving that motels down under could be every bit as rad as those in North America, check out this gem from New Zealand. The 70s cube art and bedspread say "moderne", and the decor beats the pants off of anything in the US at the time (which I'm guessing is late 70s). 

Oaks Motel - Cloverdale, CA

And look who's here to escort you to your room. Note a great sign for "Pick's Hamburgers and Root Beer" in the back as well.

Little America Motel - Salt Lake City, UT

A sign to die for, with an on-premises coffee shop, barber shop and beauty salon right in the heart of Mormon country.

Billy Barker Inn - Quesnel, B.C.

Sometimes my favorite motel postcards to collect are the most depressing. This one from British Columbia is just appalling. They make matters worse by calling it "The most modern hotel in the Cariboo" on the back.

Back of the card says, "Commercial Men!! Stop at The Desert Star Motel" and "Special features and rates for Commercial Men". Who knows what kind of trouble you could get into in a lime-green room?

Munger-Moss Motel - Lebanon, MO

Like Monday's postcard, also on Route 66 - just on the other end. Look at that Entrance sign hanging over the Office. I truly hope someone saved that. 

Renetta Motel - Indian Rocks Beach, FL

We can't really see much of the motel here, but LOOK at these people. You've got a happy beatnik rocking a neck beard, and grandpa with his belly hanging over his trunks. The nickname for the motel, according to the card was "The Enjoyable" Renetta Motel. Ask these people!

Olympic Motel - Eureka, CA
